Urban Herbal Farming: Summer Internship at Common Good City Farm

June 20, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Compliment your herbal studies with hands-on growing and harvesting experience, and create deep bonds with medicinal plants by interacting with them as they grow. Over these four summer evenings at the farm, you’ll learn basic botany and gardening techniques, you’ll take home seedlings to start your own garden if you like, and you’ll harvest a lot of plants to create teas, oils, and tinctures.

Some of the 50 medicinal herbs growing on the farm include holy basil, boneset, calamus, mugwort, passionflower, nettles, comfrey, yarrow, angelica, and all the mints.
Tentative agenda:

June 20: Tour the farm and the herb beds; annuals, perennials, and volunteers; harvesting and drying leaves.
June 27: Mindful weeding; seedling care and transplanting.
July 18: Garden planning
August 1: Harvesting and drying roots; pruning.

Cost: $125

Herbalist and performer, April Ramee, is a graduate of the Sky House Herbal Apprenticeship year one and year two programs and is the founder of Antler Alchemy, a line of herbal products and teas. April has been a student of the land for years and has studied herbs in Peru and California. April is happy to be the current leader of the herbal education team at the Common Good City Farm where she teaches people how to grow, harvest, and make medicines from the plants that grow freely at the farm.
