100-Hour Vaihayasa Aerial Teacher Training with Sarah Hippert
June 30, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - July 2, 2017 @ 9:00 pm
Join us this summer for a dynamic and fun aerial yoga teacher training course! Level 1 and 2 offer the foundation for teaching safe, effective, and fun aerial yoga classes. Although offered separately, they must be taken together in order to start teaching public classes. After the 4-weekend course you will be able to teach Intro, All Levels, Level 2 and Specialty classes. Minimum Requirements: You must already be a 200-hour certified yoga teacher in order to sign up for this training. You should have a good understanding of the principles of alignment in yoga, how to lead an opening meditation and centering, breathing techniques, and cueing while moving in front of a class.
Level One: 50 Hours
Module 1 – June 30 – Jul 2
Module 2 – Jul 14 – 16
Level Two: 50 Hours
Module 1 – Aug 11-13
Module 2 – Sept 15 – 17
Training Hours
Fridays: 12:00 – 9:00 pm
Saturdays: 12:30 – 8:30 pm
Sundays: 12:00 – 8:00 pm
LEVEL ONE
The primary goal of Level 1 is safety and cuing. This information needs to be laser sharp and articulated the exact same way every single time the teacher cues entrances and exits into and out of fundamental wraps. In addition, students will learn a variety of ways to articulate the six movements of the spine in each fundamental wrap. These two elements are the bedrock of Level 1 training.
There is very little hands on assisting in Level 1. The benefits of practicing yoga in the aerial silk will be covered and reinforced daily. There is an expectation that the student will already have experience leading a centering/opening meditation, breath work, and closing meditation. After completing Level 1, which consists of 2 modules, the student will have confidence to start teaching intro level classes to small groups for their practicum hours.
LEVEL TWO
Level 2 will focus on intermediate wraps and posture variations, finding ease moving from one wrap to another as part of a flow, and teaching multi-level and level 2 classes.
Safe rigging, tying, cleaning and maintenance of the hammocks will be covered. Hands on assisting will be covered.
We will delve deeply into flow, pacing, progressions and smart sequencing. In order to pass Level 2, the student must teach an All Levels Class utilizing requisite safety cues, components of a class, principles of alignment, smart sequencing, flow, at least one advanced progression, and proper pacing.
Cost $900 | Level 1 Only (50 hours of training) $1850 | Level 1 and Level 2 (100 hours training)
Students must purchase a 10-class pack of aerial classes from Sky House. A 10% discount is given to all Level 1 and Level 2 registered students. Students will also be required to practice teach a total of 10 hours. The Sky House studio will be rented to students at $25/hour during off-business hours.
Registration Deadline 6/28/17.
