Deconstructing Bitters: Medicine & Mixology

Join us as we learn from Tricia McCauley, Common Good Resident Herbalist and JB Knapp, Mixolgoist at El Camino, about how to use bitters in both medicine and mixology. We will spend the first hour at Common Good City Farm learning from Tricia McCauley about how to make and use bitters medicinally. Then, we will walk over to El Camino and learn from JB Knapp about how to use bitters in cocktails and sample a few bitters-based cocktails.

5:30 – 6:30 pm at Common Good City Farm
with Tricia McCauley (MS herbal medicine, Common Good Resident Herbalist since 2009)
— Learn about the ancient medicinal uses of bitters
— Discover the different herbs known as “bitters” and taste test herbal teas
— Make your own bitters tincture, which you’ll take home and press in 2-4 weeks

6:30 – 7:30 pm at El Camino
with JB Knapp (Mixologist, El Camino)
— Learn the art of using bitters in cocktails
— Sample 3 bitters-based cocktails
— Enjoy one bitters-based cocktail of your choice
— Take home recipes and tincture-making instructions
