Drinks and Dirt 2017: Mints and Mojitos

April 3, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Do you want to grow your own food but kill every plant you touch? Learn the basics of gardening in an interactive workshop with a few drinks and friends!
For this meetup, we’ll be learning all about over 10 different varieties of mint, which is way more fun over a couple of mojitos, made with our DC-grown ingredients by the mixologist at H St’s newest hotspot- Fare Well! Each ticket comes with a free (alcoholic, with ID) drink, a mint plant of your choice to take home and a recipe for making your own killer mojitos at home. You’ll also get to sample some of our different flavors of shrubs, including ginger lemon, strawberry basil and spiced apple cider!
We will harvest fresh mint and berries from our rooftop plants, and learn how to make mojitos like a pro! Who’s ready to muddle?
FAQs
What is Drinks and Dirt?

Gardening, eating local, and being a more conscientious eater are all gaining popularity. But there aren’t many opportunities for people to learn how to grow their own food in a fun, informal setting. We wanted to create a space where you can make some new friends while learning a new skill that can last a lifetime. Also, it seemed like it would be more fun with some booze!

In addition, a large portion of your ticket purchase goes towards supporting our youth education and school garden programs in the neighborhood. Please contacts us to learn more, about how you can get involved! If you can’t attend the event, please consider making a donation
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes, 21 and up! Please remember to bring your ID, no exceptions.

I seriously have a black thumb, is this event the right place for me?

Yes! No previous gardening experience is necessary to start growing your own food. We’re here to make classes fun and accessible for anyone.

Do I have to bring any tools with me?

Just a positive attitude! We’ll provide everything you need for the workshop and bring the fun back home.

What is H St. Farms/ Where is it?

H St. Farms is Cultivate the City’s newest urban farm project and we are transforming the rooftop of W.S. Jenks and Son at 910 Bladensburg Rd. NE into a vertical farm, urban farm supply center and a kick-ass event space, with the help of several other urban agriculture organizations based right here in DC!
