Fairfax County Watershed Cleanup – Connect with Nature

April 1, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Celebrate Earth Month and connect with nature. Join The Nature Conservancy and Fairfax County Park Authority to clean up your watershed!

Sites have filled up fast, but opportunities are still available at three Fairfax County Parks :

* Cub Run RECenter in Chantilly, 75 volunteers needed
* Hidden Oaks Nature Center at Roundtree Park in Falls Church, 55 volunteers needed
* Lake Accotink Park in Springfield, 100 volunteers needed

This spring cleaning effort provides a healthy checkup for local waterways. Help prevent tires, plastic bottles, cans and other trash and debris from reaching the nation’s largest estuary, the Chesapeake Bay. And by recording the types of items you remove, you’ll be helping scientists and ecologists in their efforts to improve our environment.

Snacks, give-a-ways and other free, fun activities like historic house tours and educational opportunities will take place at the work sites. This project is ideal for families, service groups, Scouts and individuals.

Register for the event online at http://support.nature.org/site/Calendar/?view=RSVP&id=9845 or email Jen Dalke, volunteer program manager, at jdalke@tnc.org, 434-951-0572 (work), 540-335-1302 (cell, text available).
