Free Yoga in the Garden
July 23, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
Come on out to Old City Farm & Guild this Sunday for another excellent (and free!) outdoor yoga practice taught by Alisha Lineswala. After, stroll through the farmer’s market and pick up your fresh produce, smoothies, and more!
Alisha came to yoga to connect with her heritage. Born in India and raised in America, she grew up managing strong competing cultures, values, and expectations in her family. Alisha’s multicultural upbringing sparked her lifelong interest in learning how we each can accept ourselves with compassion, and with that acceptance, become an active participant in our own existence. Alisha’s flows emphasize breath-linking and functional movement, as well as curious exploration of the transitions and shapes in each practice. She teaches an all-levels class and offers variations so that each student may find what they are seeking, whether it be gentle or fiery. She also teaches special populations, including thoughtfully-sequenced chair yoga flows for seniors and practitioners living with disabilities. Alisha strives to empower her students to meet themselves on the mat through inquiry, meditation and presence. As a healthcare policy attorney actively involved in advocating for high quality healthcare and a high quality of life for long-term care consumers, she hopes that her students will take whatever insights they find on the mat and pass it on to the rest of the world. Alisha graduated from Vida Fitness’s The Whole Yogi (200-HR RYS) in May 2017, where she studied with Julia Romano and Chris Parkison.
Please BYO yoga mat.
