Intro to Blacksmithing: Ironwork for the Home and Garden
October 1, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Explore the fascinating art of blacksmithing! If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to heat steel until it glows and hammer it into shape on an anvil, this workshop is for you.
In this introductory class, students will practice basic blacksmithing skills such as managing a forge, heating steel to workable temperatures, and tapering, bending, twisting, punching, and slitting red-hot metal. You’ll have a great time “playing with fire,” and you’ll leave with at least one finished project. No experience necessary. All tools and materials provided.
