March for Science – Washington, DC

April 22, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

The Nature Conservancy is a sponsoring partner of the Earth Day Network/March for Science march and rally in Washington, D.C., because science matters, especially at this critical turning point for nature. And we’re marching because we know that science holds the key to solving the biggest environmental challenges.

The Science March is not defined by any one politician or party. Science affects people everywhere, and we want to participate in a movement that can advance science’s ability to serve communities for a very long time, long after today’s politicians have left office.

Join us on the National Mall – and at satellite marches around the country – for a public celebration of science and the enormous public service it provides in our democracy, our economy, and our daily lives.

9:00 AM: learn about Sustainable Food Solutions from TNC scientists (TNC tent)
10:00 AM: Learn about Cities and Nature from TNC scientists (TNC tent)
11:00 AM: Learn about Innovation in Nature & Climate from TNC scientists (TNC tent)
12:00-2:00 PM: TNC CEO Mark Tercek to make brief remarks during this time period (main event stage)
1:30 PM: TNC supporters gather at TNC tent for march
2:00 PM: March for Science begins

For more than 65 years, The Nature Conservancy has been guided by—and relied on—science to protect the lands and waters on which all life depends. We have 600 scientists working around the world to identify the greatest challenges we face today – from climate change to the overfishing of our oceans.

It was science that first alerted communities and governments to the growing threats against our environment which, in turn, sparked the first Earth Day. Today, science gives us hope for a better future by providing solutions to the greatest challenges we face – from the changing climate to the destruction of our forests to the overfishing of our oceans.

Science inspires us to act by showing us there is a path toward a world where both nature and people can thrive together. And science provides us with the knowledge we need in order to work together to keep our lands and waters strong, healthy and productive for future generations.
