Mission to Flint Bio Water Filtration Workshop
June 10, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Applications to attend the event are available,
please email charmcityfarms@gmail.com to get the application and apply for this workshop.
The Workshop is on Saturday June 10th from 10AM to 4PM at The Flintopia in Flint, MI.
Charm City Farms of Baltimore City, Maryland will be teaching the residents of Flint, Michigan how to easily construct Bio Water Filtration Systems with inexpensive materials to get clean drinking water from rainfall this June 8th – 11th.
This is a volunteer opportunity in Flint, MI to teach a workshop on bio water filters constructed from buckets, activated charcoal, and sand. This will provide leaders of the community the knowledge to collect rainwater for drinking, and then take the skill back to their neighbors, teaching them as well.
Leaders of the community will learn how to safely burn wood, and turn it into activated charcoal. Sand will be layered with the charcoal to remove harmful pathogens.
We will construct the buckets and send everyone home with a resource for clean water with the expectation they will teach their own workshop to at least 15 other people.
Want to Volunteer to help make this workshop happen? We need folks who can:
— Contact a list of hardware stores in Flint to collect scrap wood to turn into activated charcoal
— Collect Rainwater before our arrival to use during the workshop.
— Help us find activists and leaders who will attend the workshop by sharing the application
Contact charmcityfarms@gmail.com to volunteer!
