Mother’s Day Special: Make a Felted Scarf!
May 14, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
In honor of Mother’s Day, bring someone special and enjoy an afternoon having fun, learning a new skill, and making a beautiful scarf that you can wear for years to come! During this three-hour class, textile artist Regina Yurkonis will introduce you to the fascinating art of “nuno felting,” a versatile technique that can be used to make soft, flowing garments; firm, sculptural fiber artwork; or anything in between! First, you’ll create a design using vibrantly colored wisps of wool and silk. Then, using soap, water, and friction, you’ll permanently join the wool to a lightweight silk scarf. The result: a colorful, one-of-a-kind, wearable work of art, perfect for a fall, winter, or spring day! So…invite your mother, daughter, father, son, aunt, nephew, grandparent, spouse, partner, second-cousin-once-removed, friend, neighbor, colleague–whoever!–and join us to do some felting, make fun memories, and create a functional work of art.
