On-Farm Grafting Workshop, Farm Tour, and Biodynamic Tree Paste

March 16, 2018 @ 9:45 am - 3:00 pm

This workshop is conducted in partnership with Future Harvest CASA

Future Harvest CASA.

1. How do I establish an orchard without a huge expense?

The answer to that is: grafting. How do you learn to graft? By taking this workshop, that’s how! You’ll get to learn from Steve Hamblin’s decades of fruit tree experience and visit Perennial Roots Farm. Once you’ve learned how to graft, you can replicate your favorite apple trees indefinitely — hundreds from a single tree and at a fraction of the cost of buying the same from a nursery. This is a unique opportunity. Permaculturists, backyard orchardists, and organic farmers alike will benefit from this workshop.

** Grafting is key to preserving our endangered apple heritage. 150 years ago there was at least one designated grafting expert in almost every extended family that lived off the land. Learn to graft and you can grow a thousand apple varieties. **

2. How many people will be able to attend?

Due to the detailed and intimate nature of this workshop, the class will be limited to ten (10) visitors. Be sure to commit early. The cutoff date is September 30th for this workshop! There may be more grafting workshops in the future, so if you can’t make it to this one, take heart. This workshop is in the order of: go and do likewise! Each one teach one.

3. What about food?

This event is a POTLUCK but is the main dish is CATERED. So just bring a SIDE DISH and GOOD APPETITE!

4. Do I need to bring anything for the workshop?

This is a REAL WORLD FARM EVENT. Bring muck boots, gloves, hat, water bottle, and farm clothes!!! Don’t mind getting a bit dirty. It’s good work, but it’s still farm work!
