Parathas & Pakoras! Indian Cooking with Kathy Everett

May 6, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

It is said that ‘hunger makes food taste better’ – and the spices of India can give you that hunger! Flavors from India bring a spectrum of savory aromas and color to meals that could brighten a dull day. Spices of lemony coriander, cumin, clove, hing, turmeric, cinnamon, saffron; the popping sound and smell of black mustard seeds splattering in hot oil, and aromatic sweet cardamom. They will call you to the table and put a bounce in your taste buds. Come – Join the fun!

Demonstration style class with a twist: You get to enjoy the full meal when you arrive so you know what the instructor is working towards as they show you how it all came together.

MENU:Two ‘forever’ items on any Indian menu and served at any Indian household; and so easy to make a cave kid could do it. Pararthas and Pakoras go with any meal or by themselves with or without a side soup or sauce.
A Dhal soup will be served along with our “breads.”

Parathas: An everyday warm Indian layered flat bread made with clarified butter (ghee), vegan spread, or oil using a stove top griddle or ‘Tali/Tava’.

Pakoras (gluten free): A stand-alone meal snack made with garbanzo bean (Besan) flour and grated or slivered vegetables served with or without a side sauce. These little puffy, deep fried items will spoil your dinner if you don’t limit yourself.

Please come! – this is a very FUN class and your friends and family will be amazed at your new found culinary skill for making these delightful snacks.

About the Instructor:
Kathy has been a vegetarian since 1975 and cooking vegetarian meals for private and public sectors, individuals and families, group events, cooking classes and food demos, weekend retreats and friends since the 1980’s.
