Power to the People: Community Land Trusts & Civil Rights

March 29, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

RSVP REQUIRED: http://org2.salsalabs.com/o/6480/c/1566/p/salsa/event/common/public/?event_KEY=85132

Join us for a FREE screening of the documentary “The Arc of Justice” which connects the birth of Community Land Trusts to the civil rights movement. The film traces the remarkable journey of New Communities, Inc. in southwest Georgia, a story of racial justice, community organizing and perseverance in the face of enormous obstacles.

Following the screening, panelists will lead a community conversation about the formation of a Bridge Park Community Land Trust, a key recommendation of the Park’s Equitable Development Plan. Panelists include:

Robert Burns – City First Homes
Kymone Freeman – We Act Radio
Zach Murray – Grounded Solutions Network
Bob Reeder – Rural LISC

This event augments the “Power to the People: Community Land Trusts & Anacostia” program hosted by the 11th Street Bridge Park and City First Homes in November 2016.
