Real Food for Kids Culinary Challenge and Wellness Expo

Six O’Clock Scramble’s Aviva Goldfarb, Washington Post Deputy Food Editor Bonnie S. Benwick and Susan Soorenko of Moorenkos Ice Cream will be among the presenters at this fifth annual Real Food for Kids event. Open to the public, you can learn about food writing, promotion and photography, family meal planning, fueling sports performance and plant-based diets. Watch a lively culinary competition among 15 student teams challenged to prepare a delicious and nutritious school breakfast, lunch or snack Fairfax County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Director Rodney Taylor, a pioneer in farm-to-school dining programs, is keynote speaker. FCPS Chef Brian Head will prepare lunch for attendees in collaboration with sponsor, Cuisine Solutions. There also will be exciting competition prizes from Wüsthof and Whole Foods and audience drawings for celebrity signed cookbooks and dining certificates at Earls Kitchen + Bar, Red Apron, Hӓrth and Chuys.
