Seed Keeping: Storytelling, Liberation and How to Save Seeds

September 18, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

“Keeping seeds connects us to our past and to our collective future. Come explore the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of saving seeds and the stories they hold through discussion and hands-on practice.

We begin with telling the stories embodied in our ancestors’ seeds, and discussing the current political context which makes seed keeping so essential. We’ll briefly explore important concepts for saving seeds such as flower anatomy, isolation distance, and taxonomy. Following the discussion, we will work hands-on spending the bulk of the time cleaning both wet and dry seeds using common items from the kitchen.
Consider bringing seeds to swap!”
