Shell Recycling: Chincoteague Seafood Festival

May 6, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

We are seeking three volunteers with strong hands and backs!

Volunteers are needed to help gather discarded oyster and clam shells at the 49th Annual Chincoteague Seafood Festival. The shells will be recycled and used in Conservancy restoration efforts around the Shore.

Tasks include placing bushel baskets with “TNC Shell Recycling” signs throughout the event, monitoring baskets to make sure garbage doesn’t get mixed in, and carrying and dumping full bushel baskets into our trailer.

Some heavy lifting and lots of carrying is involved. Closed toed shoes are required. Materials and training will be provided as needed.

Contact Jen Dalke, volunteer program manager, at jdalke@tnc.org or 434-951-0572 (w) or 540-335-1302 (c) to sign up.
