Summer Fruit Tree Grafting
August 19, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Have you ever wanted to produce red, green and yellow apples on the same tree? How about a peach and a plum on the same tree? That’s bud grafting!
“Budding” is a great way to start your own fruit trees as well as many ornamentals and uses individual buds from this summer’s new growth to graft onto rootstock already set in the nursery or in pots.
Instructor/Orchardist/Nurserywoman Eliza Greenman will guide you through the process of bud grafting and give you the skills you need to successfully take home 2 budded trees!
Fox Haven will supply 2 potted trees of your choice to bud (choice of apple, pear, mulberry, cherry/plum/stone fruit) and the budwood from specific varieties of fruit trees known to grow well in this climate. All you’ll need to bring is a knife (single bevel is preferred and can be found here).
Fee: $50/person. – If you sign up and cannot attend please cancel 24 hrs before hand to get a 50 percent refund with Eliza.
