Webinar: Rural Manufacturing Resilience

May 23, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Manufacturing provides jobs and income that individuals, families, and communities in rural areas rely upon. In a recently released ERS report, Rural Manufacturing Resilience: Factors Associated with Plant Survival, 1996-2011, ERS Economist Sarah A. Low examines rural manufacturing plant survival during a 15-year period that includes two recessions and a longstanding decline in manufacturing employment. In the report, Low links an in-depth ERS survey to quarterly administrative employment records so that the relationship between plant- and community-level factors and survival can be examined.

In this webinar, Low will summarize findings from the ERS report while also explaining the data and modeling technique used in the analysis.
