Worm Composting – Vermiculture
July 15, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Curious about worm composting, but not sure about all the “do’s and don’ts”? It ain’t all about just the red wiggler!
Not all worms are created equal. Some worms are more subterranean while others wish to live just above ground in leaf litter and other carbon rich material. Different species of worms prefer to eat different material and at different times of the year or at different temperatures. In this beginner to intermediate workshop you will learn about different worm species life cycles, desired living spaces, breeding cycles, rotational diet and how to setup your own indoor worm bin or larger outdoor system for serious worm production.
Each participant will go home with a starter kit and possibly home worm bin and the knowledge how to use kitchen scraps and junk mail to keep their worms happy and healthy throughout the year.
A couple bonus topics will be discussing marketability, making worm casting compost tea and how to hunt down your own worms for composting instead of having to purchase them.
**This workshop is limited to 15 participants**
