From Evergreen to Edible
April 1, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
If you’re tired of the favored few: Arborvitae/Thuja, Box (aka, boxwood), living Xmas trees (Colorado Blue Spruce or Pine), Holly and Juniper, come to this session for ideas to transform your lot. Ramona Winkelbauer, a DC Master Gardener, will showcase failures, progress, & successes in transforming her own “eighth of an acre” from the usual (ever/green) landscaped lot to a more permaculture / edible oasis.
Starting with an overview of horticultural historical figures and concepts, this session will discuss (and display pictures) of the lot, before and after (although like sports fans, “This’ll be the best year ever!”). Includes edible species like yellow raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and more! She’ll also discuss regional programs that may be available to reduce costs of specific improvements.
Additionally available: A resource listing with both electronic and analog sources for ideas, plants, tools and other aids.
*This workshop is presented as a part of Community Forklift’s 8th Annual Garden Party. For more info, please see our website: http://CommunityForklift.org/News-Events/8th-Annual-Garden-Party-and-Spring-Sale/
