Make Frozen Treats with Slow Food DC!

August 16, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Slow Food DC to learn how to make refreshing frozen treats using locally grown produce and herbs with Cultivate the City!

Frozen treat connoisseur and Cultivate’s H Street Farm manager Dan Weisshaar will guide us in making three wonderfully fresh frozen treats, using the bounty of their gardens:

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Cantaloupe and Basil Sorbet
Popsicles with Fresh Herbs

Dan will share techniques for making your own frozen treats at home, including using ice cream makers and how to adapt recipes if you don’t have an ice cream maker of your own.

Ticket price includes a short tour of Cultivate’s H Street Farm, the frozen treat class, recipes and tasting, and one frozen treat of your choice to bring home.

Cultivate the City is an urban farming organization with four years of experience educating, cultivating, and nourishing the District with over 25 pesticide-free gardens. They now have over 25 sites throughout DC, working to feed families & communities with pesticide-free, locally-grown food by growing vertically.

Come join us for a fun-filled evening that will be sure to make all of your summer evenings tasty and cool!
